I was born in New Zealand and raised in Nelson in the 60’s and 70’s. I was something of a misfit and my school years were primarily an exercise in survival. My saving grace was that the school bordered farmland that quickly led to the wilderness.
At every opportunity I would slip away and spend much of the day wandering the valleys and mountain ranges. The wilderness was my classroom and the wisdom of nature my teacher. I didn’t finish high school and left without any qualifications, apart from a basic grasp of reading, writing and arithmetic.
I drifted through a few menial jobs before settling into a government training program for marine radio communications. The qualifications enabled me to work in the coastal radio stations of New Zealand, providing ship to shore communications and distress watch. The experience I gained from that enabled me to work on ships and oil rigs in the North Sea (off Scotland), and later with the United Nations in the Middle East.
Over the years I travelled through more than 60 countries and lived in a dozen of them. I spent five years in the Middle East working for the United Nations Field Service in the communications division. During that time, I was posted throughout Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Syria.
I was especially drawn to the remnants of the advanced civilizations from ancient times, which were quite prolific in that part of the world. I was intrigued by the way their architecture and iconography reflected a deep understanding of universal order.
It was during this period that my growing interest in sacred geometry turned into a fascination and I decided to make it the focus of my life’s work. In 1986 I resigned from the United Nations in order to dedicate the rest of my life to the study and artistic expression of sacred geometry, as well as the beneficial effects it can have on human consciousness and sense of well being.
From the mid 1990’s until the pandemic locked the world down in 2019, my livelihood was largely derived from speaking tours through North America, Europe and Australasia, where I presented on the subject of sacred geometry and universal order.
My audiences ranged from schools and math and science conventions to mind/body/spirit expos and philosophical and spiritual gatherings. I would present the same visual content, but tailor the narration to suit the audience.
The pandemic brought an end to my tours, and I have been in New Zealand since then developing more material.
